Earlier this week we found out that Random House is sending 300 copies for her forthcoming chapter books Puppy Pirates for us to give away at camp. Thanks, Random House! 
We are trying something a little new this year at Nerd Camp. We're going to hold an art auction. Many of our Nerd Camp illustrators have offered to donate a piece of art for us to display during Nerd Camp. Campers will be able to purchase raffle tickets to try to take one of the pieces of art home with them. Campers will be able to purchase tickets for $1 a piece or an arm-length of tickets for $5. Each piece of art will have a bucket next to it. Participants will deposit their tickets in the buckets of art they'd like to win. All proceed from the auction will be used to purchase books written by our Nerd Camp authors to give to students during Nerd Camp Junior. You do not have to attend camp to donate a piece of art. The Nerd Camp team is excited to be able to share that Sue Stauffacher is coming to Nerd Camp. She'll be joining us day two of camp. We can't wait for everyone to learn with Sue during the day, and we are really looking forward to watching her work with our junior campers in the evening. 
 We are excited to announce that the dynamic duo of Miriam Bush and Larry Day are coming to Nerd Camp and Nerd Camp Junior. On Monday they will be participating in an author/illustrator panel and Tuesday evening they'll be working with our junior campers.    Just when we think our Nerd Camp roster is complete we somehow manage to land another amazing book creator. A couple of weeks ago it seemed that our Nerd Camp author roster was complete, but we were a little short on picture book authors. That's when Debbie Ridpath Ohi informed us that she'd love to join us for camp.
We cannot wait for everyone to meet Debbie, and we are especially excited for her to meet our junior campers. Huzzah! 
 We hope that you are as excited as us about Josh Funk coming to Nerd Camp. Mr. Funk brings such joy to all that interact with him on Twitter. We can't wait to see him at camp.
Josh will be moderating a picture book panel during day one, and he'll be working with kids during Nerd Camp Junior. We're hoping to have a few advanced copies of his picture book Lady Pancake and Sir French Toast (Sterling, 2015). |
