Have you read Kate Hannigan's The Detective's Assistant? If you have, you probably know what an awesome book it is. If you haven't, you better hurry up! You'll want to make sure you read it before you meet Ms. Hannigan at Nerd Camp 2016. That's right! Kate is joining us for all the fun and excitement that is Nerd Camp.

We are very excited to announce that Ms. Holm will once again be joining us for Nerd Camp. Jenni has been a huge Nerdy Book Club supporter since day 1, and we are thankful that she's willing to donate her time to our very lucky campers.
Jenni on The Yarn!Kelly Barnhill wrote one of the most beautiful Nerdy Book Club post, so we Algonquin offered to sponsor her travel to Nerd Camp we were beyond excited.
Kelly's The Witch's Boy was a 2014 Nerdy Book Club award winner. We hope that you are as excited to learn from Kelly as we are. We were super excited to receive an email from Jen Malone late summer inquiring about the possibility of her and Gail Nall attending Nerd Camp and Nerd Camp Junior next summer. We can't wait to learn with them, and have them lead a session at Nerd Camp Junior with our little campers.
![]() Nerd Camp is still 9 months away, but we are hard at work putting together what we believe will be our best camp. Our author lineup for Nerd Camp and Nerd Camp Junior is starting to take shape, so we'll reveal an author every week or two over the next several months. We could not be more excited to announce that Tracey Baptiste is coming to both Nerd Camp and Nerd Camp Junior. She'll be a part of the entire event, and we cannot wait for everyone to meet her. A huge thank you to her publisher Algonquin for sponsoring Tracey's trip to camp. Our line up is SO close to completion for Day One, and it is nothing short of fabulous!! Whatever area that you're looking to grow and learn in, you'll definitely find it here - with stellar teachers, trainers, authors, principals, bloggers, techies....you get the idea!
Go to the Day One page and check out the (almost) complete list of sessions with the description. You will probably have a hard time choosing (good problem to have!) but fortunately some sessions will be repeated! Not that it will make it much easier, but at least you'll have options! We'll also have bios on every speaker, but I'll put that on a Google Doc that you can access from the Day One page. We are now less than TWO WEEKS away from nErDCamp!!! Yee-haw!! ![]() Paul W. Hankins teaches English 11 and AP English Language and Composition at Silver Creek High School in southern Indiana. (And he's obviously a fan of Tom Angleberger's books!) He is a Wonder Lead Ambassador with the National Center for Families Learning and a facilitator of #WonderopolisHS. You'll have two opportunities to hear him, so if you miss him during Session One, you'll be able to catch him for Session Two! Jillian Heise, NBCT-EA/ELA, has been teaching language arts and reading to 7th & 8th graders in the suburban Milwaukee area for ten years. She currently works with both grade levels at the Indian Community School of Milwaukee. She also serves as Chair of the WSRA Children’s Literature Committee. Jillian talks books and teaching on twitter: @heisereads, her book blog: Heise Reads & Recommends, and her teaching blog: Heise Teaches & Writes. Check out the Day One tab to read more about her session!!
![]() Yes! Critically acclaimed author and illustrator Matt Faulkner has over 37 books to his credit. Matt’s picture book, A TASTE OF COLORED WATER (Simon&Schuster, 2008), was selected by the School Library Journal for its list of powerful books that encourage kids and parents to discuss diversity. The San Francisco Chronicle called his new graphic novel, GAIJIN: AMERICAN PRISONER OF WAR (Disney/Hyperion, 2014), "Superb!”. Matt’s newest illustrated picture book, GROUNDHOG’S DILEMMA (written by Matt’s wife, author/librarian Kris Remenar!) is due out in Autumn of 2015 from Charlesbridge. Matt & Kris, their family and their two cats live in the lower right hand corner of Michigan. To top it off, he's coming BACK to nErDCamp!! So if you missed him last year, no need to despair! (He is also going to be at NerdCampJr! so the kids will get to watch and learn from him, too.) |
