We were super excited to receive an email from Jen Malone late summer inquiring about the possibility of her and Gail Nall attending Nerd Camp and Nerd Camp Junior next summer. We can't wait to learn with them, and have them lead a session at Nerd Camp Junior with our little campers.

Nerd Camp is still 9 months away, but we are hard at work putting together what we believe will be our best camp. Our author lineup for Nerd Camp and Nerd Camp Junior is starting to take shape, so we'll reveal an author every week or two over the next several months.

We could not be more excited to announce that Tracey Baptiste is coming to both Nerd Camp and Nerd Camp Junior. She'll be a part of the entire event, and we cannot wait for everyone to meet her.

A huge thank you to her publisher Algonquin for sponsoring Tracey's trip to camp.

Check Out Day One's Lineup!

Our line up is SO close to completion for Day One, and it is nothing short of fabulous!! Whatever area that you're looking to grow and learn in, you'll definitely find it here - with stellar teachers, trainers, authors, principals, bloggers, techies....you get the idea!

Go to the Day One page and check out the (almost) complete list of sessions with the description. You will probably have a hard time choosing (good problem to have!) but fortunately some sessions will be repeated! Not that it will make it much easier, but at least you'll have options!

We'll also have bios on every speaker, but I'll put that on a Google Doc that you can access from the Day One page.

We are now less than TWO WEEKS away from nErDCamp!!! Yee-haw!!

You'll have two opportunities to hear him, so if you miss him during Session One, you'll be able to catch him for Session Two!

Day One: Teeming with Nerdy Amazingness!!

So, you're registered for nErDCamp. (I'm assuming, but if you're not, you need to do that right now!) Day One, which was new last year, was a HUGE success!!! Of course, it's followed by the very fun NerdRun, and this year, just to add to the fun, is our first (annual) Nerdy Party, which you're also hopefully signed up to attend!

However, the first part of Day One is where all those tough decisions are made. Which presenter am I going to see?? So this year, (I actually don't think this is going to make it any easier, but it's a shot!) we're having THREE sessions! Yes, they're all amazing and it's going to be difficult, but everyone is going to be tweeting away so you'll be able to catch some of the really important ideas from other sessions.

Ready for the more of the incredible presenters? Here we go!

Sherry Gick, Ann DiBella, and Lesley Burnap - GeniusHour: More than just an Education Buzz Word...a Transformation for Classrooms and beyond!
Sherry Gick is the Library and Instructional Technology Specialist for Rossville Consolidated Schools in Rossville, Indiana. After five years of working and teaching daily in the middle/high school library, she now oversees assistants in both the elementary and middle/high school libraries and is responsible for helping the K-12 staff move toward integrating technology into daily lessons as the corporation becomes a 1:1 system. Sherry also teaches a high school video production class.

We don't know that much about Lesley yet, because she hasn't sent us her bio!! (oops!) However, if she's a friend of Sherry's she's gotta be pretty nerdy!

Ann King DiBella teaches third grade in Indianapolis, Indiana. She is an avid reader and is passionate about helping create and support students' literacy identities through Reader's and Writer's Workshops. She also works to champion the innovative concept of Genius Hour in her school and community. When not reading, you can find her spending time with her husband and their combined family of six children. She blogs at http://kingandkids.blogspot.com. (And she's got a cool picture on her twitter page!)

Check out their session on the DAY ONE page!

Yes! Critically acclaimed author and illustrator Matt Faulkner has over 37 books to his credit. Matt’s picture book, A TASTE OF COLORED WATER (Simon&Schuster, 2008), was selected by the School Library Journal for its list of powerful books that encourage kids and parents to discuss diversity. The San Francisco Chronicle called his new graphic novel, GAIJIN: AMERICAN PRISONER OF WAR (Disney/Hyperion, 2014), "Superb!”. Matt’s newest illustrated picture book, GROUNDHOG’S DILEMMA (written by Matt’s wife, author/librarian Kris Remenar!) is due out in Autumn of 2015 from Charlesbridge. Matt & Kris, their family and their two cats live in the lower right hand corner of Michigan.

To top it off, he's coming BACK to nErDCamp!! So if you missed him last year, no need to despair! (He is also going to be at NerdCampJr! so the kids will get to watch and learn from him, too.)
